Our bodies ‘fight or flight’ stress response is a natural way for us to react to something outside of its control and not all ‘stress’ is negative. But exposure to prolonged stress and anxiety negatively affects all of our body systems physiologically, causing weakness and inflammation, reducing our ability to prevent, fight and recover from disease and injury.
Whether you are seeking relaxation or help with a particular health problem, my belief and lived experience is that reflexology can reduce tension, calm the nervous system, lower cortisol levels and help us to take the first steps to prevent further damage and promote self healing.
Reflexology can be used as part of a holistic approach to maintaining physical and mental wellbeing for the management of a wide range of medical conditions.
I will never claim to diagnose, cure or prescribe and always aim to complement any NHS / traditional treatments that you are receiving.
Although it can be combined safely with most medical treatments, if receiving active treatment for a medical condition, you should check with your GP or consultant before having reflexology.
Unfortunately, I am unable to treat you if:
- there are any signs of severe infection (high temperature, diarrhoea, vomiting), and / or contagious or infectious disease.
- you have active DVT or pulmonary embolism
- have cellulitis
- if you under the influence of alcohol and/or recreational drugs.
Please tell me of any conditions, injuries, localised swelling, broken skin or localised infection affecting the feet or hands directly.
Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.
