What to expect during a treatment

I give a free consultation with every 1st treatment, to discuss your medical history, expectations & needs.

Only your shoes & socks need to be removed. You are seated in a reclined chair with a blanket (position can be adjusted to suit your comfort).

Treatment starts with warmed towels over the feet & I begin & end with a gentle foot massage to help release the fascia & aid relaxation.

There is no waiting area so please be on time rather than early for your appointment.

Why Reflexology?

Our bodies ‘fight or flight’ stress response is a natural way for us to react to something outside of its control and not all ‘stress’ is negative. But exposure to prolonged stress and anxiety negatively affects all of our body systems physiologically, causing weakness and inflammation, reducing our ability to prevent, fight and recover from disease and injury.

Whether you are seeking relaxation or help with a particular health problem, my belief and lived experience is that reflexology can reduce tension, calm the nervous system, lower cortisol levels and help us to take the first steps to prevent further damage and promote self healing.

Reflexology can be used as part of a holistic approach to maintaining physical and mental wellbeing for the management of a wide range of medical conditions.

I will never claim to diagnose, cure or prescribe and always aim to complement any NHS / traditional treatments that you are receiving.

Although it can be combined safely with most medical treatments, if receiving active treatment for a medical condition, you should check with your GP or consultant before having reflexology.

Unfortunately, I am unable to treat you if:

  • there are any signs of severe infection (fever, diarrhoea, vomiting) and / or contagious or infectious disease.
  • you have active DVT or pulmonary embolism
  • have cellulitis
  • if you under the influence of alcohol and/or recreational drugs.

Please tell me of any conditions, injuries, localised swelling, broken skin or localised infection affecting the feet or hands directly - you need either permission from you GP or specialist or be willing to sign a medical disclaimer.

Aftercare Advice

Many people are left feeling only relaxed and refreshed, but it is also quite normal to experience tiredness or the release of emotions for 24/48 hours after treatment.

Rarely, some can experience a headache or fatigue. These reactions are quite normal as your body detoxifies itself and should not persist.

If your body reacts, simply increase your water intake, take plenty of rest and avoid stimulants such as alcohol or caffeine.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns, and I welcome any feedback you might have.
